I have erased all the errors and the ones below are the only ones coming back.

Prior to blowing a piston out of the side of the engine.all the other components were working just fine.

It does nothing. I tested voltage at the Alternator and do have power.

Looking at WDS (updated as I was posting bad info) Thanks Keifr for getting me back on track.

The Wiring diagram is setup as follows for the Starter and the Alternator.

Starter has 4 cables connected to it.

StarterSolenoid to EWS 3.

Instrument Cluster.

Alternator has 2 cables connected 1 Red 25 mm cable connecting to the starter.

The DME is communicating via BSD to the Alternator on the blue wire and getting no response which results in the error code 281D.

C is the bsd (bit serial data interface that represents the communication between the DME and the Alternator) which is failing since there is no signal.

So Do I have a bad Starter (or solenoid on the starter), a bad Alternator (voltage regulator or something fried) or bad EWS module Truly lost.

I am reading the pic but so not understand what this error pertains to: 8203; 281C bit-serial data interface BSD:signal Anyone know I also have: 8203; 27B2 Brake light switch: signal perhaps they are related X3 2006 3.0.
